Raboster Zeeuwsche Eilanden cancelled Dutch stage race loses main sponsors, unable to replace them Rabobank contract ended in 2012, other main sponsor has closed down The organisation of the Raboster Zeeuwsche Eilanden, the Wielercomité Koudekerke, has announced to teams over the weekend that the race has ceased to exist. Their decision was taken with great regret and after an extended search for new sponsors. The race should have taken place from 13 June until 15th June 2013. The main sponsors were Rabobank and Taxicentrale Vlissingen. The Rabobank contract ended after the 2012 event and the bank decided not to extend its support into the future. Then, another blow for race occured recently when Taxicentrale Vlissingen closed its doors to business and was therefore no longer able to provide funds for the event. In its relatively short history, the event quickly built up a reputation as a friendly and well-organised event. Its courses were always challenging and riders typically faced cool and windy conditions on the exposed coast roads used for the parcours by the organisers. A planned innovation for the 2013 event had been the addition of a team time trial on Friday (14th) morning. The road stage on Friday usually ran in the evening, so there was a space in the programme for such a development. In their communication to the teams, the organisers were grateful to everyone who had helped to build the event, "The board say thanks to the Rabobank and Taxicentrale Vlissingen for their cooperation over the years. Of
course we say thanks to the teams who took part in the race. Together we
made the “RaboSter Zeeuwsche Eilanden” an international topevent."
