Great Britain qualified fastest to secure their place in the gold medal ride. They will face, Australia who were second fastest. In the bronze medal ride, Canada will ride off against Poland, who had set the pace early on in the session. With 10 teams competing, the average times were relatively slow in comparison to those set in London in 2012. As expected, however, fielding a a number of riders who had competed in London, Great Britain, Australia and Canada had the quickest times. Poland qualified in the fourth fastest time, however they did drop a rider with one lap to go. Comments: Gary Sutton (Australian Endurance Coach) was very happy with his teams performance, "They started fast as always but they were able to hold it well. Now that they have qualified for the gold medal ride, I am sure that they have more in the legs to go quicker. I am sure Great Britain will have too," said Sutton. Reflecting on the top teams, Sutton added, "With the introduction of 4 x 4000m next season, I think we will continue to see 3-4 teams at the top, like we do here. The other countries are catching up fast though, so we will need to keep improving."
