Tilt-Winge, Belgium 122km

Race Writeup

The parcours for this race took in a large lap of just over 50km and then 5 laps of a 14km circuit. The race stayed together on the 'large lap'. There was a break caused in the peloton when the race passed over the cobbled section, which was also the first mountains competition point. The race then moved on to the smaller, local, circuit. Although there were numeros attempts to break the race up, nobody succeeded. 

The sprints competition was taken by Carmen Small (Specialized-lululemon) and the mountains competition by Tiffany Cromwell (Orica-AIS). 

Even the final climb of the Roeselberg was not enough to break the field. The final five kilometres after that were frenetic. The sprinter's teams fought to get them into position for the sprint in Tilt-Winge, the closing 300 metres of which were up hill. Even so, a bunch sprint was taken to the line, with Emily Collins (Wiggle Honda) taking the shortest line on a curved finish straight. That gave her a comfortable win on the line, which was officially a photofinish. Shelley Olds (Tibco) was second, Emma Johansson (Orica-AIS), third and Daniella Gass (Mix Team 1) fourth
