Race Writeup

Elinor Barker (GBR) is the new world champion on the individual time trial junior woman. The rider from Great Brittain left the surprising silver medalist Cecilie Ludwig 35 seconds behind. Demi de Jong is the first Dutch rider to grab a medal: bronze (1,02).

The junior woman faced difficult conditions: rain and wind. For Elinor Barker the 15,6 kilometer course and conditions didn’t seem to matter. She averaged 41,7 km/hr

Elinor Barker (18), Great Brittain, gold medalist.Well known as a track rider, but now world champion time trial. "I’ve worked all year for this. Watched my diet, trained hard. So I’m absolutely ecstatic. I didn’t know how the competition would be so I was really worried. There’s so many strong riders here.
