Kirsten Wild (AA-Drink) won the bunch sprint ahead of .Marianne Vos (Rabo Women) and Emma Johansson (Hitec Products - Mistral Home).

The race was fast, in fact, it was five minutes ahead of fastest schedule in the race manual after first hour. The racing was hard all day for the peloton, narrow roads, lots of road furniture, many corners – not an easy day for the riders.

A break went on the second lap of 4 (12km each) of the finishing circuit. Vos, Esra Tromp (Skil-Argos), Judith Arndt (Orica-AIS), Sarah Mustonen (Hitec) and Shelly Olds (AA Drink) formed a strong lead group.

An impressive chase to the breakaway by Specialized-lululemon closed the gap. Especially impressive because leaders were really working hard, especially Vos and Arndt, who as second and third on GC were committed to keeping away.

Wild had mechanical or puncture with 20km to go and spent 10km chasing back through cars to get back on bunch, eventually she managed to get back despite the speed of the group.

A crash at 6km to go, did not disrupt the front of the peloton. They were already preparing themselves at the front, so ‘damage’ was limited and did not effect main contenders.
