Stage 3 - Cilvinaite wins stage 3

Segromigno in Piano - Capannori 100.9 km

Race Writeup

Inga Cilvinaite (Diadora - Pasta) won the small bunch sprint to the line ahead of Megain Guarnier (Tibco) and Britain, Nicole Cooke (Faren).

The peloton was compact for most of the race, managed on the front by the team of the overnight leader, MCipollini-Gauss-Giambenini. The pink jersey on Malgorzata Jasinska ascended to Segromigno Monte comfortably in the group. On the final climb,  Valgiano. Guarnier (Tibco) and Luperini (Faren) attacked. They were followed by the pink jersey Malgorzata Jasinska. Annemiek van Vleuten (Rabo Women) and Natalia Boyarskaya (Rusvelo). Over the top of the climb, others, including Rossella Ratto (Verinlegno Fabiani) and Tiffany Cromwell (Orica-AIS) joined the group. On the decent there was a small crash, that  included Inga Cilvinaite. The bunch managed to regroup before the final sprint and Cilvinaite took the sprint, pulling clear of the others with 50 metres to go. The Lithuanian Champion had time to check before enjoying a two-handed victory salute on the way to the finish line.

Malgorzata Jasinska (Mcipollini Giambenini) remains in the overall lead with one stage left.
