Day 2 Finals Thursday 24th March The Australians and the British dominate the Team Sprint and Team Pursuit respectively. Backing up from their qualifying ride, the Anna Meares and Kaalre McCulloch, Australian 2010 World Champions became the 2011 champions too. The British pair, Vicki Pendleton and Jess Varnish had to settle for silver ahead of China's Shuang Guo and Jinjie Gong who dominated their Bronze medal ride against the French pair of Sandie Clair and Clara Sanchez. Result
Comments To come British regain world title with a dominating performance from the new team. A team, mixed with experience and youth, the British trio, Wendy Houvenaghel, Danielle King and Laura Trott showed grit and determination to regain the World Championship title away from the Australians. Silver medal went to the American world record holders. In the chase for bronze, New Zealand and Australia battled it out. The Australians started fast but faded in the later stages. New Zealand finished just ahead in a time of 3 minutes 24.065 seconds with the Australians .357 seconds behind.
