Stage 4 - Polspoel wins from break

Papendrecht, 127.5km

Race Writeup

Maaike Polspoel (Topsport Vlaanderen) sprinted away from the break to win stage 4. Trixi Worrack (AA Drink) was second ahead of Lind van Rijen (Skil-Koga).

Trixi Worrack (AA Drink) tested her legs early, but was caught by the bunch. The first big attack of the day was by Martine Bras (Dolmans Landscaping Team) after about 50 kilometres. This did not last before the decisive group broke away at half distance - Trixi Worrack (AA Drink), Maaike Polspoel (Topsport Vlaanderen 2012), Marta Bastianelli (SC MCipollini Giordana) and Linda van Rijen (Skil-Koga Cycling Team)

The bunch were content to let the break get away. they managed to gain over 3 minutes. Marta Bastianelli ((SC MCipollini Giordana) dropped out of the break after a broken pedal stopped her ambition. Vera Koedooder (Batavus) was active in the bunch to chase the break along side the Nederland bloeit team who were protecting the interest of the race leader Marianne Vos.
