Stage 3 - Becker win and takes lead overall

The HTC-Highroad women kept their momentum from their victory in the team time trial to put Charlotte Becker in the leader's jersey. Trixi Worrack (AA Drink) was second ahead of Lisa Brennauer (Hitec) 

HTC Highroad took an aggressive approach to the third stage and managed to get two riders in the major break of ten riders that formed. Included in the break were; Adrie Visser (HTC Highroad) was along side Becker, Trixi Worrack (AA Drink), Lisa Brennauer (Hitec), Noemi Cantele (Garmin - Cervelo), Annemiek Van Vleuten (Nederland Bloeit), Tatiana Antoshina (Gauss), Ruth Corset (Bizkaia-Durango), Claudia Häusler (Diadora - Pasta Zara) and Iris Slappendel (Garmin - Cervelo). They managed to gain a considerable lead before the chase started. It was disorganised due to the fact that the larger teams had representation in the lead group. In the end the leaders finished 3 minutes 51 ahead of the chase.

Adrie Visser (HTC Highroad) and another rider took off at about two and a half kilometers to go on the finish circuit. Eventually they were caught at about three hundred meters to go and this was when Becker outsprinted the field for the stage win and the gold jersey.

Ronny Lauke (Sport Director HTC Highroad) was happy to still be in gold, "We went after the third stage with a lot of attacks," said Lauke, "We wanted to put ourselves in front from the beginning and try to keep one or two riders in the break."
