Preview 15th Edition Trophee d’Or Feminin 2.2, 20-24 August, France Finally the women's peloton gets to race again. After the demise of the Route de France, Trophee D'Or Feminin has stepped up in its level of importance to the teams. As expected the number of riders has far exceeded the number of registrations in previous years. With 6 stages over 5 days, the race is based in the locale of Bourges in the Department of Cher in West France. There is a great variety for the riders to keep them on the edge for the whole week. The hills are the high mountains of the Giro, but an in between sort of area that offers hope to both the climbers and the all-rounders. Like the Thuringen tour, Trophee D 'Or Feminin will apply time and points bonuses to each stage. This will ensure that the stages are active and expect to see a number of key riders vying for intermediate points. 2010 winner Emma Johansson leads a strong Hitec Products team. Fresh from her victory at the Thuringen Rundfahrt, Johansson will be looking to continue her good form. Unlike Thuringen, Marianne Vos will join her team ensuring she will put herself in the right position on each stage to keep herself in contention. It is unsure whether Annemiek van Vleuten will ride. She is suffering with minor injuries which have kept her focused on one day races only. Colavita Forno D'Asolo leader, 2010 World Champion Giorgia Bronzini will be looking for stage wins. Unlikely that she can win overall. HTC Highroad will be looking for a looking for a positive outcome from this tour. After the announcement about the future or lack of future for the HTC Highroad brand. It will be important for the women to perform in France. Judith Arndt and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg will feature across all of the stages. The team should win the team time trial too if they can repeat their performance in Sweden. AA Drink look like they have a strong team. Kristen Wild, Linda Villumsen, Trixi Worrack and Irene van den Broek are all strong riders in contention for overall. Gauss have French champion Christelle Ferrier-Bruneau in their team. They will be looking to her for the overall win. Diadora Pasta Zara have a few cards to play with the return to racing for American Shelly Olds, consistent and Olga Zabelinskaja and Claudia Hausler. Garmin Cervelo have a mixed team. Former winner of the event Noemi Cantele should lead the team. Lucy Martin is listed to return from her broken wrist. We will wait for the final list to have this confirmed. Iris Slappendel is always consistent and should ride strongly.
