A Carnival was held for the duration of the Tour of Chongming Island and the World Cup. Locals from the Chongming area, Chongxi town in particular, were there each day, looking at the stalls and watching the demonstrations, bands and acts on the main stage. 

The carnival was just behind the start / finish area for Stages 1 and 2 of the Tour  and for the World Cup, so visitors were able to line up in their hundreds to then watch the pre-race activities and team presentations and of course, the finish and podium ceremonies.
