Stage 4 - Wild wins ITT Campi Bisenzio - Campi Bisenzio, 2,2km Individiual Time Trial
Kirsten Wild (Cervelo Test Team) won the fourth stage individual 2.2 km time trial at Giro Di Toscana in Campi Bisenzio. Wild beat Marianne Vos (Nederland Bloiet) by two seconds and third place Judith Arndt (HTC Columbia) by three. The evening individual time trial started at 8.30pm, challenging for any competitor. Wild started more than an hour earlier than her main rivals due to her position on GC after stage 3. With the last rider not scheduled to start until 10pm
Kirsten Wild (Cervelo Test Team) was cautious about starting the TT but pleased with her win, “Because it rained all day, today’s time trail was raced in very wet conditions,” said Wild after her victory. “My team mate Sarah Düster crashed in the warm-up so that made me a bit afraid. But the course itself was just up and down and I just gave it full gas and was able to win this short time trail. I am actually here to prepare myself for the upcoming world championships, but I set my sights on this time trial and winning is always nice.”
