Stage 2 Vos wins sprint, Van Vleuten keeps lead, but Samplonious solo is story of the stage Saint Fort - Lavare 129km Anne Samplonius (Canada) very nearly pulled off an exciting solo victory on the longest stage of the 2010 Route de France. She managed to stay away for most of the stage, her lead building to almost 3 minutes before the bunch woke up with 25 km to go. The Canadian gave everything and was almost strong enough, but was swallowed up by the bunch in the last couple of kilometres. She took the combativity prize, but Marianne Vos (Nederland Bloeit) took the sprint from Ina Yoko Teutenberg (HTC - Team Columbia) and race leader, Annemieke van Vleuten (Nederland Bloeit). Van Vleuten retains the GC lead by 9 seconds from Vos, then Duester (Cervelo Test Team). Lizzie Armitstead (Cervelo Test Team) is in the young rider competition lead.
