Stage 3 - Vos wins bunch sprint. Bras holds on to overall Gieten - Gieten, 107,6km
Marianne Vos (Nederland Bloiet) won the third stage of the Holland Ladies Tour ahead of Kirsten Wild (Cervelo Test Team) and Giorgia Bronzini (Mixteam Merida / Gauss). At the first sprint after 35km of racing, Wild secured extra bonus seconds ahead of Shelley Olds and Vos. After 50km there were two groups on the road. Vos suffered a double puncture and had to chase back hard. Irene Van den Broek (Leiontin NL) attacked the front of the race and a lead group formed. After 60km a few riders including Ina Yoko Teutenberg (HTC Columbia) bridged across. The lead group were all together with a chasing group that included Vos. With 75km completed Liesbeth De Vocht (Nederland Bloiet) attacked and managed to gain a gap of 25 seconds. The gap increased but the peloton, which had regrouped, were in control. The gap went out to 1 minute 45 seconds before it started to come down. HTC Columbia, Cervelo Test Team USA moved to the front to bring the lead back. With 15km to go, the gap was 50 seconds. At 10km to go the race was all together and positioning ready in the wet conditions for the technical finish line, that wound through the streets of Gieten and finished on a pave uphill section. Martine Bras finished safely in the chase bunch to maintain her hold on the leaders jersey.
