Stage 5- Vos wins stage 5 and moves into overall lead Orta S. Giulio - Pettenasco 122 km
Race Writeup - Brief Marianne Vos (Netherlands) won stage 5 of the Giro Donne and in doing so moved herself into the Maglia Rosa. 2009 World Road Champion Tatiana Guderzo (Team Valdarno) was second ahead of Judith Arndt (HTC Columbia). Lauren Kitchen (Australia) attempted a lone break early on. She was caught and immediately Natalia Boyarskaya (Fenix) counter attacked and was allowed to go out on her own until the half way point of the race. Vos managed to get away at the base of the final climb with a small group, that included Claudia Hausler (Cervelo Test Team), Annemiek van Vleuten (Netherlands) and Olga Zabelinskaya (SAFI Pasta). Mara Abbott (USA) and Evelyn Stevens and team mate Judith Arndt (HTC Columbia) bridge the gap with Emma Pooley (Cervelo Test Team), Eivgenia Vysotska (Team Valdarno). On the climb however it was Vos who was the strongest to the line, leaving the rest behind her. Martine Bras just holds on to the Mountain jersey ahead of Pooley, who secured top points in the last three climbs. Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (HTC Columbia) retains her points jersey. Vos holds the leaders and U23 jerseys. Guderzo leades the best Italian competition.
