Stage 1 - Teutenberg sprints to 'maglia rosa' on Stage 1 Muggia-Trieste 58 Km
Race Writeup - Brief Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (HTC Columbia) won the first stage of the 2010 Giro Donne, the women's Tour of Italy. Teutenberg sprinted to victory ahead of Giorgia Bronzini (Gauss RDZ Ormu) and Kirsten Wild (Cervelo Test Team) Despite a number of attempts to attack the peloton stayed together. Controlled by the main teams of Australia, HTC Columbia and Cervelo Test Team. In the end however, Teutenberg led the charge to the line and was the clear winner.
Ina-Yoko
Teutenberg (HTC Columbia) was very happy to be claiming another
leader's Maglia Rosa jersey. Teutenberg's
win was the sprinter's 17th victory of the 2010 season. "Last
year I won one stage here at the Giro Donne, and I feel really positive
about surpassing that here this year," commented the
HTC-Columbia rider. "I'm really motivated to defend the
lead tomorrow."
