Stage 2 Masterton - Martinborough - Masterton, 122km
Shelley Evans (USA) maintained her overall lead on the second stage. The trackie-cum-roadie showed her sprinting prowess by taking the her second win in two days in a bunch sprint. With the bunch spread across the road, the American showed her speed with a clear win ahead of Xin Liu and Yiu Wong Wan (Giant Pro Cycling). Evans is now fourteen seconds ahead of Ruth Corsett (Australia). Corsett's compatriot, 2009 Champion, Amber Halliday was one of a number of non-finishers on the second day. A fast, wet desecent caused problems for the peloton, with several crashing. Best under 23 rider on the stage was Courtney Lowe (New Zealand). Lowe moved up to third overall on the young rider general classification behind overnight leader, Cherise Taylor and Tiffany Cromwell.
