British Olympians who won gold medals in Beijing have been honoured in the Queen's New Year Honours List. The three, Nicole Cooke (road race), Victoria Pendleton (track sprint) and Rebecca Romero (track pursuit) were all awarded MBEs (Member of the Order of the British Empire). David Brailsford, British Cycling Performance Director, has been made CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire).
