Pursuit Qualifying


Race Writeup

The pursuit qualifying had one notable absence, that of Rebecca Romero (GB) the Olympic and 2008 World Champion. Qualifying fastest was Wendy Houvenaghel (GBR) who completed the 3000m in a time of 3 minutes 30.800 seconds. Houvenaghel was only a fraction slower that the time she posted in March in Poland. Qualifying for the Gold medal ride, Josie Tomic (AUS) posted the second fastest time.

The tall Dutch rider Vera Koedooder rode third fasted,some 10 seconds behind the time of Houvenaghel. The only other experienced pursuit rider in the group, the Spanish rider, Leire Olaberria Dorronsoro, secured forth and a medal ride.
