Pursuit Final- Wendy Houvenaghel, GBR, wins first round on home turf.
Wendy Houvenaghel (GBR) dominated the 3km individual pursuit. Houvenhagel won in 3min30.800sec, in the final having gone out hard and overtook Tomic with a few laps remaining. West Australian Josephine Tomic couldn't match the experience of current top British pursuiter. Dutch rider Vera Koedoorer claimed the bronze medal ahead of Leire Olaberria Dorronsoro (SPN). Josie Tomic (AUS) was almost ten seconds slower than her opponent in the qualifying round and could not go any faster in the final. "I was trying to do a personal best but that didn't happen," said 20 year old Tomic who was the Junior World Champion in the two kilometre distance in 2007. "It's only my second year at elite level and Wendy was just too good for me."
