Points Race - Lizzi Armitstead, GB, sprints to victory and GOLD

Race Writeup

The talented British rider Lizzi Armitstead rode a strong final to secure Gold in the first track World Cup of the season. Despite, having just finished a long road season, Armitstead still had strong form. The final unlike the qualifying rides, did not see a break. It was down to the last two sprints to determine the winner as five riders were on equal points.

Armitstead managed to win the final two sprints putting her in the gold medal position. World champion from 2008, Yumari Gonzalez Valdivieso held on for silver ahead of Russian Evgeniya Romanyuta.
