2009 Trofeo Binda event held in Cittiglio

Women cyclists, past and present met in Cittiglio on 7th March for "Bikes & Mimosa". The event was a social event of cycling chat, organised by Ciclismo magazine and Sports Promotion, the Trofeo Binda (UCI World Cup round 1) organisers
 
Bikes & Mimosa, included participants including former Champions of all kinds from after the war onwards. They narrated a series of historical scenes illustrating the perennial problem for women cyclists and racers everywhere, riding the roads of prejudice and discrimination. They also gave insight into the races they rode and won.

Problems of the past, fortunately, thanks to the strong and determination of some of the participants of the evening are fading to an extent. The heroines of pedal from the 1950s and 1960s provided anecdotes into a beautiful story in which they played an important role, building the base from which more modern competitors have continued to race and at the same strive for equality in the sport. 

The pleasant comparison between the eras, which was held in the council chamber of Cittiglio (VA), with the active involvement of Mayor Giuseppe Galliani, was organised by Ciclismo magazine, with the input of journalist Fulvia Camisa and the Cycling Sport Promotion chairman by Mario Minervino.

Italian starts, past and present were in attendance for the evening.
