Team Sprint Qualifying - Chinese qualify fastest for medal ride
Qualifying The Chinese pair of Jinjie Gong and Lin Junhong posted the fastest time in qualifying (33.696sec) to set up a gold medal ride against Dutch pair Yvonne Hijgenaar and Willy Kanis who posted a the fastest first lap and third fastest second to place them second. The French pair of Sandie Clair and Clara Sanchez secured their place in the Bronze ride with a time of 34.342 seconds. The Australian pairing of Anna Meares and Emily Rosemond. Meares went out fast and Rosemond had to work hard to hold onto the her wheel.
Yvonne Hijgenaar and Willy Kanis (NED) were very happy to qualifying for the Gold medal ride off against the Chinese. Hijgenaar was very please but feels there is a bit more to come, "Willy [Kanis] went so fast, I struggled to stay on her wheel. I had to work so hard and was a little spent by the last half lap," said Hijgenaar. Anna Meares and Emily Rosemond (AUS) blew the competition away again setting the fastest time in the Team Sprint. Rosemond was a little in awe of her team mate, "I was a little nervous knowing how fast Anna [Meares] can ride. she went off so fast and I had to dig in. Anna, eased a little to give me a breather before the final lap. I think we can go faster in the finals." said Rosemond.
