Judith Arndt (Team Columbia) suffered a third broken bone this season when she crashed out of the 2009 Giro Donne in second place on GC and leading the points competition.

Claudia Hausler (Cervelo Test Team) retained the overall lead when Trixi Worrack (Equipe Nurnberger) won the stage with a solo victory.
