Maglia Pasche 2009

Christiane Soeder wins again

Switzerland  14.8km, (1.2WE)

Cervélo Test team's Christiane Soeder repeated her 2008 victory to win the 2009 Maglia Pasche event, ahead of Jennie Longo and team mate Emma Pooley.
Soeder won the 14.8 km Time Trial event at the GP de Suisse. Second place went to Jeanie Longo (France National Team), third place was captured by team mate Emma Pooley.

Christiane Soeder (Cervelo Test Team) was very pleased with her race, "For me it was a very good race but it was very hard, especially the uphill," said Christiane Soeder. "For me it doesn't matter I like it whether it is flat or hilly. But in the end it was really hard because from the uphill I went very hard. The wind was a problem because it was a side wind on the downhill and it was a quite difficult though it turned out very good. Now I see how I am in the World's, and it is always a good thing to know in the spring what your next goal will be. Now the World Cup and then a little break and then the stage tour, for me it is Grande Boucle Féminine Internationale and International Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen and of course the World Championships which are my biggest goal."

Emma Pooley (Cervelo Test Team) was happy to join her team mate on the podium, "It was hard but in a time trail you always have to make it hurt," said Emma Pooley. "I was pleased at the first half and then because the second half was mostly uphill, I was a bit distracted and I lost some time, yes I just got distracted and that's something I have to work on for the next time. In the end I was pleased with my position and to get on the podium. Last year at this race I finished 11th so that is a nice improvement for me. The bike felt great, so I am really happy with the smaller wheels and the bike setup."
