Columbia-Highroad’s Ina-Yoko Teutenberg sprinted to her twelfth victory of
the 2009 season on Saturday, in stage four of the Tour of Grazia-Orlova in
the Teutenberg's
latest win may have been close, but there is no denying that the powerful
German has gone from strength to strength in 2009. The Columbia-Highroad
rider has already been victorious this year in races as varied as the
Redlands Classic in the Ina Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia Highroad Women) said of her 12th win, "There were initially eight of us, but two riders crashed early on," Teutenberg said. "Then in the sprint, I was able to beat the other five. It was not an easy sprint at all because I was tired after racing hard through the mountains, and again in the time trial stage held early today. I did know what the finish would be like because wed done about seven laps of the final circuit, which was an advantage, but Id been working full on all the way through the stage, so I finished completely empty. I just managed to win it, by the skin of my teeth.Its all because of a really good winter of training that gave me good form in the spring," added Teutenberg. Teutenberg talked about her continued form, "Flanders [in early April] has been the top win so far, but I've been able to hold the form all the way through to May."
