Another long breakaway on the stage today. Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia) went away after 39 kilometres and stayed away until the closing 10km, when she was caught and a counterattack went away.

On the line, Marianne Vos (DSB Bank) took the sprint ahead of Nicole Cooke (Vision 1 Racing). Regina Bruins (Cervelo Test Team) hung in to gain the overall race lead, whilst Amber Neben (Equipe Nurnberger) gave a spirited defence, but had to concede the jersey.

At almost the half way stage of the tour, Cervelo Test Team have a combines 6 minutes 30 sec lead over Equipe Nurnberger and DSB Bank sit in third place 8 minutes 45 sec behind.
