WomensCycling.net - race coverage, Tour de l'Aude 2009, Stage 2

Going into the Team Time Trial Cervelo Test team, were based on past history the team to beat. They started well, but faded a little in the closing stages. Motivated by the World TT championship jersey in the team, on the back of the American Amber Neben, Equipe Nurnberger dominated the 27km race. They finished almost 100% together and 12 seconds ahead of second place Cervelo Test Team. They showed that they will be the team to chase in the remaining stages, they have 5 riders in the top 10 overall, with Cervelo Test Team taking 3 of those spots and Team Columbia Highroad Women, with their two stage winners, Ina Yoko Teutenberg and Linda Villumsen filling the last two.

In the U23 competition, Trine Schmidt (Team Flexpoint) took over the young rider competition from Vos (DSB Bank) who had led the competition from day 1. Team Flexpoint rode well to finish third overall just 22 seconds behind the winners.
