Cervelo Test Team took the first day of racing in Etrusca with a win by Emma Pooley. Kristin Armstrong was second, 19 seconds down. 

Regina Bruins (Cervelo Test Team) broke her collarbone after a fall on the final descent, she will be out of four weeks - missing Trofeo Binda, Flanders and Drenthe - all World Cup races.

San Dimas

Mara Abbott successfully defended her 2008 stage 1 crown by winning the mountain time trial in California. Team Columbia dominated the top ten, with four riders placed. Abbot was faster than 2008 by 20 seconds.
