Martinborough - Admiral Hill, 125km

Race Writeup

Ex-rower, Amber Halliday (MB Cycles-Australia) took the decisive stage of the Tour of New Zealand and with it, the Tour title 2009.

Riding for Kirsty Broun's successful MB Cycles team (owned by Marcel Bengtson ), the South Australian powered up the 5km climb of Admiral Hill, leaving some names in her wake. Ruth Corsett has performed in the past on this stage and was fourth behind two Giant Pro Cycling (the only UCI team in the race) team-mates, Min Gao and Lang Meng. Corsett finished with Meng and was followed over the line in the same time by Carlee Taylor (fifth).

Halliday's solo win propelled her to the top of the General Classification, to give her the overall win by 1 minute 33 over Min Gao. Lang Meng was third, three minutes behind the winner.
