While the streets of Adelaide were abuzz with thousands of cyclists from near and far, there to enjoy the cycling frenzy that is the Tour Down Under, two local women were plugging away at turning their cycling dreams to reality.  

Former Bike Ed Instructor, radio broadcaster and cycling writer and photographer Nisa Schebella has just opened the first women specific Bicycle Boutique and Gallery in Australia .  

eVelo – tHeArtofCycling opened its doors officially on Tuesday 20th January to a packed house, including the likes of outstanding local sports personalities and Olympians Rachael Sporn and Juliet Haslam. Also there were Amy Gillett’s, parents Mary and Dennis Safe. A raffle on the night also raised nearly $200 for the AMY GILLETT FOUNDATION.

eVelo’s Vision is to support women cyclists with bikes, accessories and apparel for all forms of bike riding. Whether you are a weekend warrior and want lycra, a commuter or a recreational rider eVelo’s mission is to cater to supporting women who want to cycle to look and feel good! AccessoRIDE is her motto! You can also find artworks, jewellery and get a great coffee at eVelo.  

Nisa’s background as a Bike Ed Instructor and Trainer also provides plenty of practical safety and mechanical assistance to women who sometimes feel lost in the male dominated world of cycling retail. As a photographer Nisa curated numerous The Art of Cycling exhibitions at The Print Bin in Hyde Park and won multiple awards for her efforts.

Young cyclist, Tiffany Cromwell, also realised her dream by launching her first collection of cycling kit for women: Tiffany Jane.  Bright, beautiful and guaranteed to make you stand out amongst the bunch, this kit is simply gorgeous. Tiffany has just returned from the national road race championships where she came third in the U23 category. She also rides with professional outfit Team Colavita/Sutter Homes based in Colorado and is working towards her Advanced Diploma in Fashion Studies at a tertiary college in Adelaide.
