Day 3, Newsflash Keirin crash puts Anna Meares in hospital Reports coming from the track centre in Los Angeles indicate that Australian, Anna Meares has been injured during the keirin finals on Sunday evening. Meares apparently crashed heavily during the keirin final (places 1-6) and was taken to hospital for x-rays and observation. She was taken from the venue by ambulance, with initial concern for an injury to her hip. She was said to have been knocked out for a few seconds, but was alert as she left the stadium. The crash occurred towards the end of the race, after the derny had left the track. A clash of wheels with Svetlana Grankowskaja sent Meares face down onto the trackside.
