Stage 6

Quarrata - Firenze  109.6km

Race Writeup

Monica Holler (Team Bigla) was in a break which was made in the first 5km of the stage. She and twelve others stayed away through the circuits of Quarrata at the beginning of the stage, then the transfer along main roads to Firenze, then the chaotic, technical and tourist-packed final 10km through the centre of Firenze to the Piazza Della Republica.

She outpsrinted her rivals on the shiney cobblestones, obviously delighted with her win.

Judith Arndt (Team Columbia) finished safely in the chasing bunch, to take the overall honours.
