A relatively quiet stage, in the heat and with headwinds. The sprinters came to the fore towards the end of stage. Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Team Columbia) took the stage from Kirsten Wild (AA Drink) and Giorgia Bronzini (SAFI).

With time bonuses also won during the stage, Teutenberg took over the race lead from Mirjam Melchers van Poppel (Flexpoint).
