Teutenberg chases history

Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, winner of the Liberty Classic in Philadelphia and indeed all three rounds of the "Triple Crown" in 2007, could become the first woman to win the Triple Crown in consecutive years if she crosses the line first on Sunday.

Teutenberg has already defended her 2007 wins in Allentown and Reading this week. Whilst her High Road team-mates stayed in Montreal after the World Cup (won by team-mate, Judith Arndt) for the Tour of Montreal (which was also won by Arndt after a strong team performance throughout), Teutenberg raced alone against teams such as Cervelo Lifeforce and Colavita Sutter. Against the odds, she was able to go with the breaks and stay fresh enough for victory in the final sprints in both races.

"Sunday is the most important race for us," said Teutenberg. "So now I really have to concentrate on that. Luckily my team-mates will join me for that after they finish Tour of Montreal," commented the German after her win in Reading on Thursday.
