Team Pursuit 3 kilometres, combined under 19 and senior In the team pursuit, the Western Australian trio of Josephine Tomic, Sarah Kent and Melissa Hoskins set a Championship Record on their way to defeating New South Wales in the final. Tomic's status as World Record holder for the junior individual pursuit and her victory in the elite event earlier this week, plus Kent being the newly crowned U19 Australian Champion marked them as the favourites for gold and they didn't disappoint. In only the second staging of the event at the Australian Championships they posted a time of 3min37.996 to knock two seconds of the mark set in 2007 by NSW. "It's a pretty good time considering at the (Sydney) World Cup with Katie Mactier and Belinda Goss we rode a time only five seconds faster than this," Tomic who made her debut to elite racing at the opening World Cup round on the same track last November. Victoria secured the bronze medal overtaking the ACT a little over half way through the race.
