Clothing provision and athlete involvement in R & D

Olympic build-up critical

BikeNZ has renewed its contract with leading New Zealand sports apparel company Orca, to be its official competition apparel supplier.

The new three year agreement builds on a relationship first established before the 2004 Olympics. Orca will provide a full range of apparel to BikeNZ, ranging from cycle jerseys, to skin suits and casual gear.

Rodger Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, BikeNZ says he is delighted to be able to continue with the partnership. As we make our preparations for world championship events and the Olympics it is critical that BikeNZ can equip its athletes with the best gear possible. We look forward to working on new and innovative gear to provide a competitive edge in the future.

Scott Unsworth , Chief Executive Officer, Orca, says there will be a focus on continuing to develop new apparel that suits the range of cycling disciplines represented by BikeNZ.  In all areas of our business we look to develop products by athletes, for athletes. We are working with BikeNZ’s top New Zealand cyclists to ensure that the apparel we produce provides the best performance possible, while also providing an iconic New Zealand look.”

BikeNZ was created in July 2003 to act as an umbrella body embracing all national bike and cycling organisations including, but not limited to current member organisations, Mountain Bike NZ, Cycling NZ, BMX NZ , NZ Schools Cycling Association, NZ Masters Cycling Association and the Cycling Advocates Network.
