Stage 2 Middelburg - Vlissingen, 136.4km
A stage which started just after a heavy rainstorm saw riders contending with wet roads in the early part of the race. A late start - at 18:30hrs meant that the riders would reach Vlissingen sometime around 21:30 hrs - 21:45hrs on Thursday evening. Linda Villumsen (T-Mobile) went away early in the stage. Her break lasted for a good 35-40 km, until she went back into the main bunch. DSB Bank were evident at the front of the bunch, chasing throughout to protect the race lead of Marianne Vos, who had won the time trial, Stage 1. Loës Gunnewijk (Team Flexpoint) made a late race break, but was not allowed much time out on her own. T-Mobile were active again after Gunnewijk was swallowed by the bunch, Chantal Beltman attacked and was alone ahead of the race in the closing kilometres. Unfortunately, she punctured and finished behind the bunch with a flat tyre. The bunch sprint was taken by Marianne Vos (DSB Bank), ahead of Kirsten Wild (AA Drink) and Suzanne De Goede (T-Mobile).
