Numbers up for Tassie 2007 Increased entries in all categories, women's growth and increased standards of particular note The Sports Carnivals Association of Tasmania is delighted at the number of cycling entries for this year’s Basslink Tasmanian Christmas Carnival Series. At this year’s Latrobe Boxing Day Carnival at this point of receiving nominations there will be 120 senior men, 50 women and 60 juniors, a review of a Latrobe Carnival Program a decade ago will show approx 95 men cyclists and 50 junior cyclists. Since then the number of entries in open and junior level has increased. The big standout however has been the women’s cycling which continues to grow, last year we had 35 cyclists but this year it will be up around the 50 competitors. The standard of the women’s competition also continues to improve with a number of elite cyclists competing.
