Preview
The Redlands Cycle Classic in
2007 is the event's twentieth running. There is a gap in the 'honour roll'
between 1989 and 1991, when there were no women' races. There have been some
big names competing at Redlands over the years. It has been a happy hunting
ground for mountainbikers as well as roadies; in 2000, Alison Dunlap won
three stages to secure the race overall. Another of hte stages was won by
the British MTBer, Caroline Alexander.
Amber Neben won the 2006
event, whilst Christine Thorburn took 2005 victory. Both these riders return
to Redlands in 2007. The winners of the team classification for hte past two
years, T-Mobile, are also on the start list, the team is comprised of riders
fresh from 2007 stage and overall victories in Australia, New Zealand and
the USA.
