Trofeo Alfredo Binda - Nicole Cooke continues winning ways Welsh wonder wins again April 1, 2007 - 124km - Cittiglio, Varese UCI rank 1.1 The ninth edition of the Trofeo Alfredo Binda was held on 1 April 2007. Based on a 15.5km circuit, covered 8 times, Cooke broke away to take solo victory ahead of a bunch almost a minute behind. The Raleigh Lifeforce team made several attacks, Karin Thürig went away first, then Priska Doppmann and Sara Duester made sure they were in the second attack. The pair stayed away until the final lap, when chases by other teams were enough to bring them back. Nicole Cooke immediately counter-attacked, but was caught almost immediately. Duester went again and created a gap between her and the bunch. On the final climb, Fabiana Luperini (Menikini Gysko) and Nicole Brändli (Team Bigla) forced the pace, with an attentive Nicole Cooke going with them. The three caught and passed Duester and Cooke attacked again. This was decisive and the young Welshwoman reached the line 42 seconds ahead of the chasers.
