Eurigio Ladies Tour, Stage 3 News - Mirjam Melchers injured in sprint finale crash

Mirjam Melchers van Poppel (Buitenpoort-Flexpoint), who made her return to racing this week was injured in the crash which affected several riders today. The crash in the closing kilometre occurred in rainy conditions in the streets of Aachen (Germany).

According to an early statement by the Buitenpoort-Flexpoint team, Melchers van Poppel has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken hip, pelvis and jaw. Surgeons intended to operate as early as possible on her hip.
