Tour of New Zealand Stage 4 Miramar Peninsula TT - 3 March 2006 10:00hrs
Sarah Ulmer put it beyond doubt this morning in Wellington. She went into the stage as race leader and as such, was given the honour of starting last. She started a minute behind second place on GC, Priska Doppmann (Univega Pro Team). Doppmann knew that she would have to perform - she was 8 seconds down on Ulmer going into the 11km time trial. It was not to be, though, Doppmann and then Ulmer appeared at the final turn of the coastal road which leads to Scorching Bay within a few metres of each other. There was no need to wait for the official confirmation - Ulmer had opened the gap on Doppmann, they finished within seconds of each other and so Sarah Ulmer was the race winner. She led the race from start to finish.
