Stage 2a Porcari - Montecarlo, 57.20km
Tuesday on the Giro del Toscana included 2 half stages in the area near Pescia. The weather was warm and the first half stage was hilly, taking in the tough climb to Montecarlo twice in total. The bunch stayed together for the initial part of this short stage. The hills around Montecarlo beckoned. The first time through the picturesque finish town was a mountains competition point. Claudia Hausler (Nürnberger) was alone on a solo break and took the points. By the end of the stage, Hausler was back in the bunch and the sprint was between Naome Cantele (Team Bigla) and Judith Arndt (T-Mobile). Cantele had the legs and took it. She took over the race lead, Arndt the points jersey.
