A dry, warm day for the first stage of this new Tour on the calendar. There was little wind too, so the riders had a much more comfortable first stage than those who also raced the Holland Ladies Tour last week.

Christine Armstrong took the inaugural leader's jersey - orange in colour, whilst Marlijn Binnendijk (AA Drink) was the fastest young rider. Armstrong started and realised almost immediately that she had mechanical trouble - she looked down, saw it was the magnet for her computer and reached down to fix it whilst rolling. Then she was off on her ride, although the magnet was still making a clicking noise where it was rubbing. Sophie Goor (Vlaanderen-Caprisonne) crashed and finished outside the published time limit. The Jury will allow her to start the stage on Wednesday. Mirjam Melchers (Buitenpoort-Flexpoint) finished a strong seventh, on the week she returned to competition, having missed much of the middle of the season.
