Beginners especially welcome.....

The 2005 edition of the Women’s Boot Inn League began on Wednesday, 20th April. The league is open to all women cyclists, and is the perfect opportunity for leisure cyclists and commuters to get their first taste of road racing. All standards will be catered for, with beginners being grouped together and given a generous head start.

Every rider will be given points for each race they do in the league, with the Women’s Commission sponsoring prizes for the top six ladies overall. Prizes will also be awarded at each race, depending on the numbers that turn up. League points will be awarded as follows… 11, 10, 9, 8, 7 and 6 points to the first six over the line, and 5 to all other riders.

The format for this year's league has been changed slightly from last year, to include some time trials and a race in Balscadden. The popular track sessions in Crumlin which were introduced last year, and the usual circuit races at the Boot Inn, will continue this year. The Boot Inn League races will generally take place every second Wednesday – full details are in the Cycling Ireland calendar, and the details for the next race will be listed on this site at the end of each race report.

The first race takes place at 7pm sharp at the Boot Inn (between St.Margaret’s and Dublin Airport) on Wednesday, and will cover four laps of the usual, flat, five-mile circuit. Entry is 5 Euro.

If you don’t feel you are ready to race yet, come along for a look anyway. All riders cycling out from town are welcome to meet up with Valerie outside the GPO at 5.50pm to cycle out together.
