Update After Round 3
Report
by Roisin Kennedy (Irish Cycling Women’s commission)
The
Women’s Commission was delighted to be able to add five new names to the
Boot Inn League 2005 startlist last night: first time racer, and race
winner Louise Harliwich, two new riders, Nessa Smyth and Susan Maher
(Swords CC), and the familiar Orwell riders, Jenny Fay and Fidelma Fahey.
Hopefully future Rounds will attract more new faces.
Round 4 takes place at 7pm on June 1st at the
track on
SUNDRIVE ROAD
, Crumlin. All women are very welcome. The introductory lessons and the
shorter events on the track that night will suit women who are a little
apprehensive of road racing.
The updated overall rankings for the League
show that the handicap system (organised by Brendan Whelan) has been
working well so far, with riders from all groups featuring in the top
places. Thanks too to Commissaire Larry Farrell, Johnny Varley and Deborah
Byrne’s fiancé who have helped out at every Round, and to all other
marshals who have given their time to the League so far.
