Stage Review - Stage 3

Stage 3 of the Holland Ladies Tour was hosted by the town of Leende, near Eindhoven. It was a return to the town for the race and the crowds arrived to watch the excitement. For much of the race, things stayed together, but in the latter stages, a break of around 55 riders formed which was to stay away until the end. As the race entered Leende on the first of 2 short laps of a 'finishing circuit', the pace was formidable. The line was strung out and as the riders turned the sharp left into the finishing straight, they were out of hte saddle, sprinting to close the gaps which had inevitably opened up. 

The final sprint saw Regina Schleicher and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg fighting it out for the win. For the third day in a row, Schleicher took the stage, retaining her orange jersey and also taking back the green points jersey from Team Safi's Nicole Cooke.
