Bermuda Grand Prix

The Bermuda Bicycle Association is delighted to announce the continued sponsorship of Bermuda's largest professional sporting event by Conyers Dill & Pearman. In addition to being the title sponsor for the 2005 Bermuda Grand Prix, the partners have generously extended their sponsorship of this professional and amateur cycling event through 2008.

BBA's treasurer and executive member Steve Millington received the commitment from CD&P's Marketing Manager Ross Webber stating "CD&P's willingness to extend their sponsorship of the Bermuda Grand Prix is a tremendous action, allowing the BBA to make extended plans for the BGP and permitting the organizers to concentrate on enhancing other aspects of the event.

Conyers Dill & Pearman's association with Bermuda cycling has always been exceptional and the additional three years of sponsorship for our showcase event is a major boost for local cycling."

The CD&P Bermuda Grand Prix 2005 will be held from September 22nd to the 25th and will again utilize various locations around the island. The event will include professional fields of both men and women plus amateur and junior competitors. For the second year it will serve as the finale of the Women's Prestige Cycling Series that in 2004 brought the largest field of professional women cyclists ever to Bermuda.

In 2005 the WPCS will again be comprised of four major races:

PoolGel Redlands Bicycle Classic  March 31 to April 3

Nature Valley Grand Prix  June 8 to 12

International Tour de Toona July 25 to 31

CD&P Bermuda Grand Prix September 22 to 25

The event will be organized by Peter Dunne and again rely heavily onlocal volunteers, additional sponsors, various departments of the Bermuda Government and local support services including police, fire and medical personnel. Overseas travel packages for amateurs wishing to participate are being developed by Steve Lehman Tours.
