Corso Italia Grand Prix, September 19th
Toronto - Canada - is hosting a European-style race in hte city centre on 19th September. Riders are required......
Bicycle racing returns to the streets of Toronto on Sep 19th in a tough, challenging course. The course is 3km long and based on a city centre circuit.
European in flavour, the Corso Italia Grand Prix promises to be fast, challenging, blood-pumping, high-energy, nail-biting bicycle racing excitement! Cyclists averaging 40 - 45 kph will be flying down Lansdowne from St. Clair to Davenport before suffering every climb back-up the Caledonia-St. Clair hill; especially as the laps start taking its toll on their legs.
Corso Italia Grand Prix will be a contest of endurance; no let-up from the pistol to the chequered flag. Primes (sprints for money) on every lap will ensure there will be no sitting back It will be fast-paced, reaching 70km at Lansdowne and Davenport. The course is long enough and with enough bends that racers will have to" keep-on-their-toes", otherwise a breakaway will be successful.
Tactics and positioning will play dominant roles, especially at the hair-pin turn on St. Clair at St. Clair Gardens. The turns will whip-out the peloton (field of racers) making those at the back draw heavily from their reserves to fight back into position.
Please considering competing... Please pass along to other clubs and interested individuals.
